Tagetes lucida is a beautiful, bright green perennial herb from the Sierra Mandre Mountains of Mexico. It is used by the local Indians recreationally as well as in the kitchen. It has a very mild anise flavor and a sweet taste. In Mexico, it is used as a tea to calm stomachs, relax nerves and to alleviate the symptoms of a hangover.

In ceremonies, the Huichol Indians from the Sierra Madre Mountains reportedly have visions when smoking the herb in combination with the consumption of fermented Tarragon tea, which is prepared the same way Sinicuichi is prepared. Tagetes lucida has been used since pre-Hispanic times. "closed-eye-images" similar to other herbs that were used used for divination.

This is a really beautiful herb, and I'm so glad I found it! Just opening the bag you get the most wonderful, sweet scent. A couple of tablespoons seeped in hot water makes for a really nice tea, especially with some honey and agave nectar. I read that tea made from Mexican Tarragon was great for stomach problems, so I tried it when I was suffering from some indigestion, and it helped almost immediately. The tea also has a very calming effect! I found it to be just as pleasant an experience when smoked. It smells and tastes really good, and has a lovely mild relaxing effect. It works great as part of a blend with other herbs, as well, offering a really pleasant taste to pretty much anything you combine it with.

I recently added this to a blend as an experiment...the tastes is very strong...a little goes a long way in a blend...I used 3 grams in an ounce blend and it was very strong...taste was different at first, but it is growing on me...I plan on trying to add Mexican Tarragon to more blends.

I found that the taste is bland (for my tastes) and mixes well with any entheo-drink. I only use this when i'm in the mood for forced CEV's.
