The California Poppy (Eschscholzia californica) has been used traditionally as a remedy for toothaches (the root cut and the juices applied directly), and as a tea for headaches, anxiety, and insomnia. It's a calming plant, and much like valerian in it's effects. A strong decoction (boiled tea) is actually more powerful than the smoke. This herb is fresh, organically grown and processed cut and sifted herb.

This made a great tea i loved the taste and the effects were sedative but not the least bit intoxicationg or anthing like an opiate or narcotic. Over all it made agreat tea and helped me sleep.

Putting a couple pinches of this herb in a mug filled with water and sticking it in the microwave for 99 seconds, results in a very relaxing tea. At first it makes you very sleepy but this winds down and you are left with a sense of well being.

This is a reasonably good sedative, but red poppy seems to work much better for me.

Makes me and my wife a little antsy if we use too much, but a pinch in a glass of herbal tea is very helpful for my sore back and her joint pain when ibuprofen alone just won't cut it.
