No other curious red-spotted fungus has enjoyed such a deeply mysterious history, which reaches, quite literally, mythological proportions. There are references to this fungus in Christmas stories, in the Rig Veda, and some argue; in early Christianity. Amanita myths abound, and this particular strain is straight from one of the original sources for early Amanita muscaria Shamanic use.
One fact no one can argue, is that these mushrooms are associated with both Shamanic and magical practices and they could very well be the world's oldest entheogen. They grow all over the world, and have been positively identified as being used by various religious cults, including ones in Siberia, Africa, and the United States, where these mushrooms can easily be found.
