Sugandi Root (Hemidismus indica)

The best way to use the ancient and powerful root known as Sugandi is in accordance with what you want it for. To calm the mind, make a light tea. To induce a dream state, use the herb as an incense as Shamans have for many, many years. In the Himalayas, the herb is ground to a coarse powder with dried leaves or seeds of Holy Basil, Bel Fruit (most commonly used for maintaining calmness) or flowers of lotus (such as our 3 Lotus Paste), jasmine and safflower and then smoked in a pipe to induce states of deep visualization for their medicine and visionary work.
HISTORY: In ancient texts compiled between the 13th and 16th Centuries, by a royal physician, on the banks of holy rivers, the herb commonly called SUGANDI is a vital tonic for the mind and body (single drug therapy for opening mind body channels) as per original Sanskrit texts on Ayurveda.
Another name for it is 'the eternal root' as its root spreads for a long way underground. This is a 'delicious' herb according to traditional Tibetan medicine - it smells sweet and aromatic- and is also known as sugandhi, 'the fragrant one' in Hindi. The roots that are called the "symbols of human mind on the earth" really look like "little neurons" complete with "synapses and glias", according to modern pharmacists. Effects as mentioned by ancient sages: NERVES: Its alterative and purificatory nature extends to the mind, hence its use in disturbed, angry or irritated emotions from high emotional / medicinal or psychological aggravation of the equilibrium of the mind. "It reduces anxiety, fear and aggression indirectly by calming the flames of chemicals released by the brain as defense mechanisms." MALE FERTILITY: Classified as 'Sukra - karam', a sperm increasing herb, it is of immense value in fertility problems, low libido. Its saponin content is considered to have a steroidal effect that enhances the production of testosterone, proven by modern science.
