Kanna South Africa - Fine Cut
It has long been the mission of Shaman's Garden to source from small producers who work with sacred plants in their indigenous habitat. Therefore it is with great joy we bring you this Kanna from a small farm in Kanna’s homeland of South Africa, a farm we feel grows the best in the world. We offer it as a fermented dried leaf in fine cut form.

Kanna (Sceletium tortuosum) is a white blossomed ground covering succulent that only grows in its native region of South Africa, appropriately called Kanna Land. Kanna has been a part of hunter-gatherer culture for thousands of years. While the first western-observed use was over three centuries ago among the Khoikhoi, an indigenous tribe native to the region, also known colloquially as Hottentots.

A plant with a deep and sacred history, Kanna is the same name used by indigenous South Africans to refer to the Eland Antelope. The antelope is regarded as a “trance animal” that possesses extraordinary abilities. Since pre-historic times, the eland antelope has played a central role as a magical ally in many ceremonies and is closely associated with rain makers, divination rituals, healing practices, and communal trance dances. Kanna appears to have been used as part of these rituals.

"Alchemist" - by Paulo Coelho
This simple, yet eloquent parable celebrates the richness of the human spirit. A young Spanish shepherd seeking his destiny travels to Egypt where he learns many lessons, particularly from a wise old alchemist. The real alchemy here, however, is the transmuting of youthful idealism into mature wisdom. The blending of conventional ideas with an exotic setting makes old truths seem new again. This shepherd takes the advice Hamlet did not heed, learning to trust his heart and commune with it as a treasured friend. Enjoyable and easy to read, this timeless story validates the aspirations and dreams of any spiritual seeker.
