Wild Dagga Leaf, Resin, & Tinctures

Wild Dagga perhaps is one of the least understood, but most popular of the herbal products we offer. The name "dagga" got its name because of how it is used in Africa, the plant's native home. And no, this plant does not mimic the effects of any illegal drugs, it has a character and effect all its own, and, it's completely legal to possess anywhere in the world. This plant is famous for acting as a potentiator for anything that it is blended with, but it possesses effects that create a relaxed repose and insight that lasts a pleasant amount of time.

Wild Dagga is used in a wide range of smoking blends, and we do have products that are both consumable, like the Wild Dagga natural herb that eSutras supplies us with.  We then have Wild Dagga in a concentrated form which we offer as an exotic botanical incense that can be burned for its own pleasant scent, used topically as an additive to essential oils or massage oils, or it can be smoked as well.  Please note that smoking of any kind, even natural herbal products is dangerous to ones health.

CRITICAL POINTS REGARDING WILD DAGGA VARIETIES:

There is a VAST difference in potency of Wild Dagga varieties, in both the leaves and especially the flowers.  Our shop prides itself on not only having the best Wild Dagga found anywhere, but we also have varieties that no other shop has, even though others claim to have the same thing.  One of those varieties is our Alpine Freeze Dried Klip Dagga, grown in scientifically-controlled conditions, and freeze dried on the farm, just after it's harvested, to keep it's potency as high as the day it was harvested.  And another, is our TWO strains of Wild Dagga Flowers.

Both Lion's Tail and Lion's Ear (Klip Dagga) produce flowers.  But, the critical difference between the two are in WHAT the flowers look like.  For the less-potent variety (Lion's Tail), the flowers simply sprout from the plant itself.  But for the more potent variety called Lion's Ear or Klip Dagga, the flowers sprout from prickly pods.  And, these pods only produce a FEW flowers per pod.  See the below images for a reference:

Leonotis nepetifolia flowers

Leonotis nepetifolia flowers (above) - ONE BIG POD!

Note that the Leonotis nepetifolia flowers sprout from a large pod.  In nature, the rules are typically simple, and it applies in large measure to this particular plant:  "Whenever something is more potent in nature, it is far less plentiful."  So, what other vendors offer as "Wild Dagga Flowers", are really the weaker strain of flowers as seen in the first image.  They are the ones that sprout quite plentifully and directly from the plant.  In fact, the flowers of the Klip Dagga / Lion's Ear / Leonotis nepetifolia are so much more potent than the flowers from the Wild Dagga / Lion's Tail / Leonotis leonurus, that the pods themselves can be ground up and used as part of a smoking blend with results that are very similar to the flowers themselves.

In fact, if you can find research on both of these plants (most vendors DON'T want to point out the difference because the cost difference is quite different as well), you will see that the Lion's Ear produced a FAR SMOOTHER smoke and/or tea than the Lion's Tail.  And this is exactly why we offer both, just as we offer multiple strains of products such as HBWR, Wormwood, and Calamus...to educate you, our treasured customer, so you can be confident with anything and everything you purchase from us.  If you go to Wikipedia on Leonotis nepetifolia, you wil see this quote; "The main difference is that L. nepetifolia's flowers sprout from a round prickly ball. It is also said that the leaves of L. nepetifolia are more potent and much less harsh when smoked than those of L. leonurus." -

The Klip Dagga is part of a growing line of products we carry called our "Private Reserve" products that are grown, with the greatest of care, on our own farmlands.  Wild Dagga happens to be one of the plants that is particularly suited to the growing conditions our farmlands have.

There are countless stories and reports of wild dagga effects, but there is one thing to remember when reading these wildly varying reports is this:  One must ALWAYS take into consideration what the source plant material was.  As always, we offer a wide range of Wild Dagga products, to not only give customers an idea of the range of products available, but to allow them to make their own potency choices when it comes to Wild Dagga.

Also, this is not an herbal product that is based on speculation; it has a recorded history of use in South Africa, and that part of the world is still a vastly untapped place for exotic botanicals such as Wild Dagga.  It’s been used as an herb to “potentiate” any herb it’s mixed with, helping to intensify the effects that either herb would have imparted on its own.

As a euphorant, it’s easy to see why this plant is used as an ingredient in so many smoking blends such as Chill Herbal Smoking Blend made by SweetSmoke Herbs.  It's used because it's so effective!  Please use with care and caution; responsible use is the only thing that will ensure our freedom to work with plants such as this beautiful one long into the future.
