There are a great number of recipes for Absinthe across the world, and many of them are closely-guarded secrets by Absinthe manufacturers. This particular recipe was happily shared by one of the last famous beat poets; Dale Pendell. He swore by this concoction. We found his ingredient list intriguing, especially due to the Calamus Root; one of our favorite Energizing Herbs here at the shop. Click the image or the link below to get the actual recipe used in this package of herbs. Keep in mind; this is not a typical "Absinthe Kit"; this is a package of the ingredients for Dale's recipe, conveniently gathered and measured for you.

Every once in a while, a product comes along that inspires us to no end. This dried leaf is one of those products. The leaves of the famous tropical American vine (Banisteriopsis caapi) can be added to any aromatic incense blend, whether it's Wild Dagga flowers, or any of your favorite herbs. In short, this is one of the most pleasant smudging herbs that we have ever found. And now that many retailers are catching on to a trend that we started years ago, we're pleased to report that our B. caapi leaves are from a young red vine that originally came from Terence McKenna's farm in Hawaii. Before Terence passed in early 2000, he gifted this unique strain to the person who continues to grow it today. It's a fitting a tribute to the original vine that continues to flourish in his memory. This product is not intended or sold for ingestion by humans or animals. It is sold only for use as an incense or for smoking. Bay Bean is another exotic botanical curiosity and an amazing plant for making incense, especially when blended with other incense herbs. There seems to be many stories surrounding this plant, and it was considered important and sacred enough to be placed in graves in and around the area by the Mazatec people of southern Mexico and other tribal groups. This alone indicates an importance for this plant in ritual that goes beyond decoration; the dried leaves are not pleasing to the eye, but their smell is absolutely lovely. Bay Bean is a very fast-growing and sturdy vine which can be found all over the coastal regions around the Gulf of Mexico, including the Yucatan. As a pan-tropical plant, it can be found in tropical and subtropical coastal locations in many parts of the world. Its wide range makes it even more curious that little is presently known about it. Bay Bean can be found snaking its way to the ocean from shrubby shorelines and coastal shrub. It sets down roots at nodes as it trails across beaches and dunes, the roots forming networks that aid in stabilizing sands. The plant prefers warmth and can tolerate periods of drought, but definitely likes full sun and the beach! This product is not intended or sold for ingestion by humans or animals. It is sold only for use as an incense or for smoking. WARNING: Smoking anything, including herbal products of any kind, are harmful to the body. Click here for more info...

Combretum quadrangulare is a small tree of the family Combretaceae which grows up to 10 meters in height. It grows in the wild or is planted in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. Combretum is planted along the banks of rivers or arroyos and is found throughout Thailand, especially in open, wet places. You rarely find it at the markets and it is mostly known locally. There is no supplier in the world offering Combretum, not even in origin countries, since farmers pick it for themselves. This dried leaf makes a great base for any exotic incense blend, and also works well as a smudging tool. This product is not intended or sold for ingestion by humans or animals. It is sold only for use as an incense or for smoking. WARNING: Smoking anything, including herbal products of any kind, are harmful to the body. Click here for more info...

Our growers carefully harvest this particular strain of Leonurus sibiricus at its peak potency, which not only makes for a smoother burning leaf, but gives this carefully dried herb its unique appearance as well. The inhabitants of the rugged and remote mountainous region in the Mexican state of Chiapas refer to this plant as “marahuanilla”, whereas the English cammon name is Siberian Motherwort. By popular request from our customers, we've worked hard to find the least "stemmy" plant material we could find, and we even sometimes offer it as a flat-dried leaf. Leonurus sibiricus also provides a smooth smoke for blending with other herbs. This product is not intended or sold for ingestion by humans or animals. It is sold only for use as an incense or for smoking. WARNING: Smoking anything, including herbal products of any kind, are harmful to the body. Click here for more info...

Verbascum thapsus (“Great Mullein”) grows natively in northern Africa, Asia, and Europe and as an introduced plant in Australia and the Americas. Dioscorides, the pioneering Greek physician, first recognized Mullein for the support of upper respiratory tract function nearly two centuries ago and the same use is recognized by herbalists today.* Mullein is also widely used in herbal formulas for its emollient (hydrating) properties. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This is hand-picked Siberian motherwort (Leonurus sibiricus), also known as marihuanilla (unfortunate common name). We've removed all the stems and ensured that only the most aromatic part of the plant is left for those working with this ancient herbal incense. This herb is smoked in various parts of Mexico, and Siberian motherwort is often used in herbal smoking blends as a main ingredient. Our Siberian motherwort is a high-altitude variety. Why is this relevant? Higher altitudes promote the production of a heartier plant. Click here for more info...

Aztec marigold is indigenous from Mexico to Guatemala and naturalized in the rest of Central America and the western Andes of South America. In the Oaxaca region of Mexico, the Zapotecs used Tagetes as a primary herb in purification rituals. The plant is popular with the Tarahumara Indians of Chihuahua and is used by the modern Huichol Indians in their religious rituals. The botanical genus name Tagetes is in reference to a Roman deity, Tages, who was originally an Etruscan god of prophecy. Today, Tagetes erecta continues to be a strong smoking herb — especially when blended in equal amounts with Mexican Tarragon (Tagetes lucida); a super combination the Aztecs dubbed "Zempaxochitl." This product is not intended or sold for ingestion by humans or animals. It is sold only for use as an incense or for smoking. WARNING: Smoking anything, including herbal products of any kind, are harmful to the body. Click here for more info...

Tagetes lucida is a beautiful, bright green perennial herb from the Sierra Madre Mountains of Mexico. In ceremonies, the Huichol Indians from the Sierra Madre Mountains worked with this curious plant as a ritual incense. Tagetes lucida has been used since pre-Hispanic times. This product is not intended or sold for ingestion by humans or animals. It is sold only for use as an incense or for smoking. This dried Wild Dagga is wildcrafted and harvested sustainably. This is another product that we buy directly from the growers, who still work with this plant for themselves to this day. This unusually aromatic Leonotis leonurus (Lion's Tail) leaf is often preferred by our customers, and gets the most repeat customers; partially because we offer it at such a reduced price. We want to encourage as much sustainable harvesting of this particular Wild Dagga as we can, so offering it near-wholesale allows us to buy more from the growers. We supply Wild Dagga as a component for creating incense blends. Click here for more info...
