Kratom: What Is It?
It's easy to be fooled by imitators, but this is another product where you truly get what you pay for. The plant Mitragyna speciosa Korth is a tree who's natural habitat is in Thailand, with heavy forests in the central and southern regions of the country. The Mitragyna genus, part of the family Rubiaceae, is found in tropical and sub-tropical regions of Asia and Africa as well, and now, in India, at our farmland where we cultivate what we feel is the world's most interesting Kratom incense.
Asian Mitragynas are often found in rainforests, while the African species are often found in swamps. Most species are arborescent, some reaching heights of almost 100 feet. The genus was given its name by Korthals because the stigmas in the first species he examined resembled the shape of a bishop's miter. This genus is characterized by a globular flowering head, bearing up to 120 florets each. During the flower bud stage, the developing florets are surrounded and completely covered by numerous overlapping bracteoles. Mitragyna species are used medicinally as well as for their fine timber through the areas they grow.
Curiously enough, Kratom is evergreen rather than deciduous, and leaves are constantly being shed and being replaced. During the dry season of the year leaf fall is more abundant, and new growth is definitely more plentiful during the rainy season. When grown outside their natural tropical habitat, leaf fall occurs with colder temperatures, although the leaves tend to be less potent than leaves intentionally harvested at peak times of the year. Kratom also prefers wet, humus-like soils in a protected position. Being a heavy feeder, it requires very rich, fertile soil. It is drought sensitive, and if grown out of its native habitat, sensitive to frost. Propagation is by very fresh seed or cuttings. There is a low strike rate, due to an endogenous fungus which attacks xylem tissue. - If you prefer the original, go to IAmShaman Shop and their Kratom products pages.

TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK - DO NOT ORDER! Here, we offer a little-known strain of Kratom plant reportedly from Vietnam called the "BumbleBee strain". Up until very recently this has been difficult to acquire and due to an unreliable supplier for this particular Kratom plant, we once again no longer have it at our shop. When looking to grow Kratom plants, though, the Rifat strain stands out as the original, hardy, and easy-to-grow strain that most have heard about. The Rifat strain is also known as "Red Vein", and although BumbleBee Kratom plants may appear almost indistinguishable from the Rifat strain, when placed side by side several things stand out that would separate it from the Rifat.
While the Rifat strain is known for it's red veins, the BumbleBee strain's are a more vibrant red. Whether this has any effect on the strength of this plant, no tests that we know of have been conducted to this date. The leaves are also slightly lighter green than the Rifat, and also more glossy in appearance.This strain was reportedly originally grown from seed of Vietnamese origin, making it the only type of kratom available from Vietnamese descent, but as of this writing we have not seen any independent verification of this.
These plants are in 4" pots, usually with multiple branches or "limbs" already grown or forming, they're already well rooted and growing quite vigorously. We take great pride in these Kratom live plants and guarantee that every one will arrive alive.

Kratom plants are actually fast-growing trees that produce large leaves even as seedlings. Kratom is an herb with an unusual history of being described as both a stimulant and depressant while at the same time posessing the chemical structure one might expect of a psychedelic. But, Kratom plants are an easy plant to grow (See this How to Grow Kratom article), and the rewards are many. In Thailand, they say it used to help get the workers through the day as it calms the mind, but that is also provided needed energy to accomplish any task that needed accomplishing. It was also regarded as a much "classier" alternative to marijuana until it was made illegal and punishable by death in its native country. (We are only quoting a source, and do not make any attempt at comparing this plant to an illegal plant whatseover). We take great pride in the Kratom plants we offer and guarantee that every one will arrive alive and in good health. The bad news is that our present supplier proved to be quite unreliable, and since customer satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, we had to stop carrying Kratom plants until a better supplier could be found.
